The European Championship 2020 is in full swing. Therefore, we propose to look at the statistics of the teams that participated in this tournament: which of them performed the most successfully, who was able to choose the final, and who did not reach it.
We offer you to familiarize yourself with the latest news and the full schedule of the upcoming matches of the national teams on the official website https://eurocup-2020.ru/.
Belgium (1 game in the final and 0 wins)
At the moment, the Belgians are considered one of the contenders for victory in the Euro 2020 championship. Despite the big bets on them, the Belgian national team made it to the final of the tournament in 1980. Then they lost to the German national team with a score of 2: 1.
After that, the team never made it to the final. But this year there is talk of a strong lineup of the Belgians. Therefore, they occupy one of the leading positions.

Yugoslavia (2 games in the final and 0 wins)
Few people probably already remember the existence of such a state, which, like the Soviet Union at one time, gave birth to many independent republics.
It was these two superpowers that met in the first final of the tournament, which was new at that time, and the victory went to the USSR. Our footballers won in extra time with a score of 2: 1. The second bitterness of defeat, the Yugoslavs learned after 8 years, in the return match, losing to Italy with a score of 2: 0.
Netherlands (1 game in the final and 1 win)
The only place in the final was very successful for the Netherlands. I think many of you remember with whom they played then and what amazing goals were scored.
Greece (1 game in the final and 1 win)
Greece, like the Netherlands, managed to conquer the EURO from the very first hit in the decisive match. Minimal, tortured 1-0 victories proved to be a deadly weapon in the hands of the Greeks. So the hostess Portugal in the final was helpless in front of them.
Denmark (1 game in the final and 1 win)
The Danes, as well as Greece and the Netherlands, did not flinch for the only time reaching the decisive match and won the coveted Cup. But that victory stands apart, because the Scandinavians, in principle, should not have been at that tournament! Straight from the holidays, in relaxation, Denmark drove straight to the final, where they dealt with the strong German national team 2: 0.
Portugal (2 games in the final and 1 win)
Since the days of the legendary Eusebio, Portugal has been part of the cohort of strong European teams, which constantly lacked something for a decisive breakthrough. This “something” was apparently Cristiano Ronaldo, because it was with him that the Portuguese first lost to the aforementioned Greece (0: 1), but in 2016 they beat France with the same score on its own field.
Czech Republic / Czechoslovakia (2 games in the final and 1 win)
In 1996, the Czech national team in the final match lost to the German national team with a score of 2: 1, who remembers there the first "golden goal" was scored, which decided the outcome of a major tournament. This defeat did not allow repeating the success of their ancestors from the then united Czechoslovakia, which in 1976 overpowered the FRG on penalties.
Italy (3 games in the final and 1 win)
The Italians can put their first participation in the decisive duel to themselves, Yugoslavia was defeated. However, in 2000, the almost won victory in the match with France (1: 2) was offensively missed, and in 2012 there was a defeat from the Spanish national team (0: 4).
France (3 games in the final and 2 wins)
If we easily remembered the last performances of France in the finals (this is a defeat from Portugal (0: 1) and a victory over Italy (2: 1)), then the first triumph dates back to 1984. In the main match of the tournament, Spain was beaten (2: 0).
USSR (4 games in the final and 1 victory)
The three most successful teams in the history of EURO are opened by the USSR. On the first try, our players won the title, but then there were only failures. Therefore, without unnecessary emotions, I will simply list:
- 1964: Spain 2-1 USSR
- 1972: West Germany v USSR (3-0)
- 1988: Netherlands 2-0 USSR
Spain (4 games in the final and 3 wins)
Spain has the best efficiency in terms of the chances used. After all, three out of four attempts were successful. Since we have already mentioned many matches, by analogy with the USSR ... dry statistics:
- 1964: Spain 2-1 USSR
- 1984: France 2-0 Spain
- 2008: Spain 1-0 Germany
- 2012: Spain 4-0 Italy
Germany / FRG (6 games in the final and 3 wins)
FRG (Germany) (6 games in the final and 3 wins)
Well, the most successful national team at the continental tournament is Germany (with a reservation - 3 out of 6 finals fell on the era of the FRG).
- 1972: West Germany v USSR (3-0)
- 1976: Yugoslavia v West Germany (2-2 and 5-3 on penalties)
- 1980: West Germany 2-1 Belgium
- 1992: Denmark 2 Germany (2-0)
- 1996: Germany 2-1 Czech Republic
- 2008: Spain 1-0 Germany
The Russian national team is in an extremely difficult situation, how can they get out of the group?
From the outside it may seem that the Russian national team has everything under control and is going according to plan. Yes, it is, but this impression is deceiving, because our situation at the moment is very unpleasant.
If you are thinking of placing bets on the outcomes of events, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with bookmakers for betting on Euro 2021.
Most likely, the Danes will need to beat us with any score to get to the 1/8 finals from second place. Still, the basic variant in the parallel game is Belgium's victory over Finland. In this case, the Belgians will have 9 points and the other teams will have three points. In such a situation, the Danes will have enough victory with any score to be second (well, or at least bypass us).
If three teams have three points each, then the goal difference in matches between these three teams will be taken into account first, and then the number of goals scored in the triple opposition. If all three matches between Russia, Denmark and Finland end at 1: 0, then we will be lower than the Danes, because then the goal difference is calculated in the whole group. And we lost bigger to the Belgians. So it turns out that the Danes will just be super motivated.
And now a little about the balance of power. Some may think that Denmark and Russia are teams of the same level. Alas, this is not the case. At the youth level, we have recently seen this. Okay, though, that's not an argument yet. Here are the more significant points:
- FIFA rating. Russia is the 38th country in the FIFA rankings, while Denmark is 10th. Do you feel the difference?
- Compositions. All adequate people in our football admitted that the level of the Russian championship has fallen. We ourselves see this in the last shameful seasons in European competitions. So we have only four legionnaires in our application:
- Golovin (French Championship)
- Miranchuk (Italian Championship)
- Cheryshev (Spanish Championship)
- Kudryashov (Turkish Championship)
The Danes' championship is clearly not stronger than ours, but they have only three people from the local league in their application. It is enough to see which clubs the other players are from. There are exactly the same Atalanta and Valencia, but at the same time there are Chelsea, Leicester, Tottenham, Everton, Barcelona, Valencia, Milan, Inter, Borussia "D, RB" Leipzig ".
- The game. The Danes undeservedly lost both matches at the Euro. In terms of blows, the difference for two meetings: 43: 7 - in their favor. By the created moments, the Danes were definitely better than their rivals.
- The home arena factor.
- Just look at the quotes of the bookmakers. These people respond with money when they line up the lines for each match. They are certainly guided by significant indicators. I just open the quotes and see that we are trying. Denmark is the clear favorite (1.62).
I understand that these five factors may not impress Diveev, but in reality things are very bad.
